For The Love of Layers *GCD Studios Technique*

Since it is now Autumn time it is time to start bundling up in layers. Don't you love layering on nice warm and cozy layers of clothing?!! I also love adding layers to my scrapbooking layouts. Just as layering clothing as more texture, warmth, and depth to your wardrobe, adding layers to your layouts will do the same. On this layout of my daughter's first day of high school I layered butterfly on top of butterfly with an additional layer of stitching just for good measure.

I also layered on the glorious borders. So much fun!

So if you would like to add just a little something extra to your layout next time...just think about a little layering! Wishing you all a warm and cozy day!!

Being Nostalgic *Digital Doodles*

Just looking through some of my older photos and came across this one that has always been one of my favorites.
It is when my third daughter went off to kindergarten and my son just younger than her did NOT want her to go.
He is just clinging to her here. These two are my children that are off serving as missionaries for our church now. I loved being nostalgic as I worked on this lo.
The apples on this lo are from Kathy Martin's latest digi kit "thankful". You can just see how versatile they are...not just for Thanksgiving. I've used three different sizes here, two different pps and one is even made with another of her digi stamps from the Pencil It in kit. They are just so fun to play with! You can find the stamps that I used for this lo HERE
and HERE.
I hope you are having happy memories today! HUGS, Cheryl

Thankful *Digital Doodles*

Hi all!! I am thankful for so many things, many things, many things...that are mine today...this is from a song the children sing at my church but it is exactly how I feel. I am thankful for so many things...for the gospel of Jesus Christ in my life, my family, my friends, my and my family's health, a beautiful home and place to live, literally everywhere I look I see something else to be thankful for. I am thankful for all of you and my sweet association with Kathy Martin and the Digital Doodles design team.
Kathy's latest digital kit "thankful" embodies all these things. I loved using it here for this gift basket of pumpkin bread I made for a dear friend who I am soooooo very thankful for. If you would like to use Kathy's fab kit yourself to express your thankful spirit you can find it HERE.
I hope you have many things to be thankful for today!! Tell me a few of them!

"Tree of Books" Celebrating Singapore *CCCB*

Hi all! Today brings a project for the City Crafter Challenge Blog. Our hostess, Kirsty, has brought us the coolest challenge from her home land of Singapore. The image for inspiration for this week is this:

Here's what you need to do for the challenge: create a card/project that include the image of a tree/trees or a book/books. You could also make a bookmark, a book cover, a notebook, coffee table brag book etc. This is not a color challenge, so it is NOT required to use the colors from the inspiration photo. You will find the challenge HERE. We are sponsored this week by the fabulous Stamping Boutique and were able to use one of their digi images for our project. I used the "lined school paper" image on mine. Thank you, thank you Stamping Boutique! I chose for my project to highlight my love of reading. It truly is something that has brought me such untold joy throughout my life. The first book I remember truly falling in love with was Little Women. I didn't even know it was a classic. I just remember sitting in the old Redondo Beach library as a little girl with this book in my lap and never wanting to leave. The same thing happened when I read The Secret Garden.
I did not grow up in a family where I was read to. It was something I just discovered on my own and I would (and still do) just devour books. My mom would tell me to get outside and play with the other kids, cause I just wanted to sit and read. Do you love to read, too? What is the first book you remember falling in love with...or what book are you currently reading. I finished Sarah's Key by Tatiana de Rosnay not too long ago and loved it. Happy reading to you all!! Hugs,
Cheryl

Something Wonderful **GCD Studios**

Something wonderful is going to happen to you today!! What a great thought! I love inspiring thoughts of all kinds, so for our theme project for GCD Studios this month I decided to make a inspiring quote journal. The theme is taken from this inspiration:

So running with the "back to school" theme I created my journal out of a basic school supply...a composition notebook. As soon as I saw the "something wonderful is going to happen to you today" quote on the GCD Studios border I knew I had to use it for this project. I sincerely hope that something wonderful for you happens today, too! Hugs, Cheryl

Bewitched *Digital Doodles*

Kathy Martin has bewitched me again with her fabulous stamps. I'm pretty sure her newest set of digital stamps, "Howl-oween" is going to bewitch you, too! As soon as I saw the "witching you a happy halloween" and little witches hat as part of the set, I was inspired to create these witch hat treats. The hats are super easy to make. You need sugar cones, cookies larger than the diameter of the cones, dipping chocolate, sprinkles (you gotta love sprinkles), and some kind of treat to put inside the hats (I used Reese's Pieces). You dip the sugar cone into the melted dipping chocolate and then roll it in the sprinkles. Next fill the cone with your choice of treat (even a little Halloween plastic toy...spider, worm, skeleton) would be fun. Dip one half of your cookie in the chocolate and then press the cookie onto the cone and put on a baking sheet. Add some sprinkles to bottom of hat. After you complete the number of cones you want put them into the fridge to harden the chocolate. Use Kathy's digital stamps as tags to add an even more festive feel. Hope you are getting in the Halloween spirit!
BOO!

This One's For The Boys! *CCCB Challenge*

Our challenge this week at City Crafter Challenge Blog is brought to us by our hostess Ros and is "This One's For The Boys!. Your challenge is to create a masculine card using the colors in the inspiration photo. Both the challenge and photo can be found HERE at CCCB.
I do find it a real CHALLENGE to make masculine cards, but had fun with this...I think you will too, so I hope to see you there. The prize up for grabs is a GORGEOUS creation from Ros, herself. I made my card with my son in mind, who is a missionary for our church and I truly "Moose him soooooooooo much". I'm so proud of him and his service, though, and there really isn't anyplace I would rather have him be. I just received some fun pictures of him that I thought I would share. The sweet lady who sent them to me will never know how truly much they mean to me. Some of you who follow my blog may remember that back in June he was involved in a bit of a basketball mishap and lost his two front teeth. He had written and told me the dentist had patched him up, but I haven't seen any pictures since then and with my mother heart I have been a little worried this whole time that all was ok. Well, as you can see from these "corny" pictures sent to me by this sweet lady he stayed with all is well with those teeth.

If he can eat corn on the cob...it is all good. I just love how happy he looks. I knew he was, but it is just nice to see. Hope all is fabulous today in your life. Hugs, Cheryl

Be Excited!!! **GCD Studios Jewelry Blog Hop!!!

I'm so excited to be a part of this fun blog hop at GCD Studios! It's Jewelry Month at GCD Studios and we are so excited to be sharing with you some fun jewelry that is now available from GCD Studios. That in and of itself is so exciting, but there's more..........you all get a chance to win some fun giveaways! There will be ten giveaways in all. Just leave a comment on each participant's blog for a chance to win. From here you will go to Mimi Leinbach's blog found HERE. Leave Mimi a comment and you'll find the link to the next blog and keep going until you end up back here! It was soooooooo fun trying my hand at making jewelry and soooo easy to do with GCD Studios Products. Everything that was used on this necklace is a GCD Studios product. The BEST thing about making this necklace was my 15 year old, highly fashion conscience, daughter's reaction to it. She asked to wear it to school!!! High Praise indeed!! She did wear it to school and when she got home she told me that she had a ton of compliments on it and inquiries of where she got it! Wooohoo!!!
This is the GCD Studios product I started with:

I just added some lovely GCD Studios patterned paper to the chipboard circle and glued that into the medallion. I then added a fabulous GCD Studios brad and equally fabulous GCD Studios button and voile my necklace is complete! My daughter wore it with black as shown here:

I hope you have fun on this blog hop and I KNOW you will find a ton of FABULOUS INSPIRATION!! Hugs, Cheryl
