Ty received the rank of Eagle Scout last night after his Eagle Board of Review! yeah!!
It has been a long time coming. I am glad I am the mother of only one boy for this reason only...I could not go through the whole Eagle Scout thing again. For mothers of young boys who would like their son to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout...start YOUNG. Have them get every merit badge possible at the age of 11. It really is quite an accomplishment. There are 325 requirements that a scout needs to accomplish in order to receive the Eagle Scout award. This past year I was wondering if it was all worth it, but last night at the Board of Review, I would have to say it IS. The Court of Honor will be held when all the paper work gets back. Probably in about six weeks. I just want to let Ty know I really am proud of him. I know I gave him a lot of flack during this whole process. I wasn't sure at times if we would both survive, but we did and are both better for it. Love ya Ty!!

Yea for Ty (and you)! Thats awesome! I am so proud! I am glad you both survived and that you know feel like it was worth it!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I was so proud of my brothers when they accomplished this enormous feat as well. Actually, when they first started into BSA I was 100% convinced I could do anything they could, right?...Ah, I was crushed when I learned I couldn't get all those cool merit badges... So, being the stubborn one that I am, I still learned to build the fire faster, tie all the standard knots (plus some my bros didn't know), and all the other stuff along with them. Admittedly, that "flare" for efficient fire-building did scare my YCLs at girls' camp many MANY times when I was tending the cooking fires right up close and they were themselves too nervous to go quite so near... So where am I today? Serving in leadership for YW camp this year...what ironies...
ReplyDeleteAnyway, enough reminiscing... Big time congratulations to everyone! That really is a family effort but it is worth it all the way.
Hugs from Texas,
