Hi ALL! I just wanted to share a little simple joy of mine with you today. I'm not ashamed to admit I'm a simple kind of gal and take pleasure in some very ordinary things that I find rather extraordinary myself. One of the things that can bring a smile to my face instantly is flowers. I LOVE them! They just plain make me happy. Unfortuneately I don't have very much of a green thumb, but I try to bring a little bright spot to my life by at least trying to help things grow. I take great joy in my little garden. It doesn't matter to me that it doesn't produce a whole lot. I just love spending time amongst my vegetables and watching them grow to the best of their ability and I try to help them to the best of mine. This year before my son came home in March I decided to try my hand at growing some flowers on our front stairs and porch. I am happy to report that they are still alive! I've replaced a couple of the flowers with ones that to better in the summer now that the weather is getting warmer. So I painted these little pots and planted some flowers in them and also some vegetables for the front balcony. I can not even begin to describe the happiness I receive from these little flowers each day. Every time I walk up my front stairs I think to myself..."Ohhhhhhh these pretty little flowers make me sooooooo happy!"
And yes you will probably think I'm crazy, but I tell them that. I don't necessarily think it will make them grow any better (but who knows, maybe it does), but I just can't really help myself. They always bring a smile to me, so I lean over as I get to my front door and I tell them..."you are all sooooo pretty...you make me so happy...good job girls!" *I do think of flowers as females. And I'll tell you a little secret...as soon as I tell them...I get even happier inside! So here are some pictures of my little girls and I hope they brighten your day too! Do you have a simple joy in your life...that brightens your day? I would LOVE to hear about it! Wishing you a day with JOY! HUGS, Cheryl

We share the same love of things that grow, I love my flowers, each one just seems to bring some love with each petal. This year my vegetables are doing so well. I have been eating tomatoes for awhile now. I have so many little ones, I don't mind if a bird takes one! I have tomatoes for breakfast, lunch and dinner! sometimes dessert and of course snacks. Your pots are beautiful. It is amazing that something so simple can make us feel so good. thanks for sharing yours and have a wonderful day!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great reminder to be thankful for every little thing--though it is not a little thing to have some beautiful plants really--it is miraculous really!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
love your plants. so colorful. love the tiered one.
ReplyDeleteSWEET post! Yes, simple joys are so easy to find in our surroundings! I love hearing bird chirping every time I go outside of my house! The singing birds make me feel happy and alive! I love your flower talk...too bad the birds can't hear me, or I would tell them :" LOVE your singing, tweety!"!
ReplyDeleteTotally agree, there's nothing like nature's beauty to put a spring in one's step.

Such pretty flowers. You brought a smile to my face telling about your 'girls'. Too cute. A simple joy that brings a smile to my face is when I take a shower before bed-time and climb into freshly laundered sheets with newly shaved legs. I know it's silly but it makes me sigh with happiness every time!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, Cherly! I abslutely love this post! I love that you find simple joy in flowers! I never had much of a green thumb, but always loved flowers. We have a big yard now, and I try to plant things around that remind me of my childhood and other happy things! We planted a butterfly bush in memory of my sister, Cathy, and I just purchased a bleeding heart bush because I loved the one my mom had when we were growing up! So thanks for sharing this post with us!!!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pots and flowers ... there's nothing better than connecting with nature
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!!! and talking about green thumb, I grew up in the cities all my life, this is really the first time I ever try planting something, like you said, it is such a joy to watch things grow!
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are beautiful, Cheryl! And so are you! I don't think you're crazy one little bit! I think those who can appreciate the littlest things are the happiest! We recenly got to watch a pair of Carolina wrens nest outside our kitchen window in a little bird house we hung up and I enjoyed every moment seeing them everyday. It was so much fun seeing mom and dad constantly coming and going to feed their babies. And as luck would have it, Dan was in the kitchen the day the babies came out of the nest so we got to see them all take off. These things and things like the artwork my son brings home from school are what it's all about!
ReplyDeleteI don't think you're crazy at all, Cheryl! Truly blessed are those that enjoy the simple goodness in life, like flowers. I really love your little pots. Such happy painted colors! I love the 3 you stacked together. What a great idea.
ReplyDeleteI don't have much of a green thumb, either. But I do try to keep a pot of something growing by my front steps. Even one pot brightens my day. :)
I just love the way you painted those pots. So pretty. I have to say I just love playing in dirt also.. The problem here is that it gets to hot. things still grow but I have to get out early in the morning before it gets to hot. your tiered pots look gorgeous. Thanks so much for sharing your photos with us..
