Hi all! Just wanted to share a card and a sweet experience. The card is one I made for the GCD Studios DT call and reflects the feelings of my heart..."sweet". We took our son to the Missionary Training Center yesterday. Although, I thought my heart was going to break at leaving him for the next two years, still it is the sweetest of all experiences to see your children choosing a path you know will bring them the greatest of all joy. To be able to share the gospel of Jesus Christ, will bring him joy greater than he has ever known and I am so happy for him. The Lord showed us all such a tender mercy when we arrived. As we are pulling into the parking lot, crossing the parking lot is one of his very best buddies from home. There are THOUSANDS of missionaries here and for his friend to be crossing the parking lot at the EXACT time of our arrival was our own little miracle. Thought I would share a few pictures of this sweet experience.
What a heartwrenching day! I know what you mean about knowing they are choosing the path that will bring them the most joy, but it is soooooo hard to say goodbye for 2 years. Your card is gorgeous! LOVE the St. Patty's day green at the MTC!
Oh, how wonderful! That is a great looking missionary. So fun for your son and daughter to be out at the same time -- my brother and I were out together and we really treasured the letters we sent back and forth.
how cool is it that *3* of his sisters AND both parents can make time on a wednesday afternoon to see the lad off, for that matter?! (& how cool that your family is clearly so attuned to doing things like that, it didn't even qualify as "news" in the post!!!) ♥SWEET♥ is indeed the word for the entire thing! :)
btw--the card is gorgeous, as well. i am LOVING the dimensional "rolled" roses you are making...i need to try that! ♥
Hi Cheryl! Adorable card! Did i tell you that we share the same last name...(I kept my maiden name when getting married...actually my husband adopted my last name. My Mom's name is Cheryl too....rofl! Heidi told me I should tell you! See you on the boards. cherry
my daughter left home at just 16 , to go to collage , she came back at 20 , but had visits inbetween... kids are tougher than you think ,its us mums that go to pieces !
What a DARLING fabric lollipop card! You are creative beyond belief and I get so much inspiration from you!!!! I love it!!
What a bittersweet day you had. That's amazing the he saw one of his friends when you pulled into the parking lot! That was truly a sign. Are know you are so proud of him!!! BIG hugs to you, sweetie!!! ♥♥ Kay
“Anyone who imagines that bliss is normal is going to waste a lot of time running around shouting that he’s been robbed. The fact is that most putts don’t drop, most beef is tough, most children grow up to just be people, most successful marriages require a high degree of mutual toleration, most jobs are more often dull than otherwise. Life is like an old time rail journey…delays…sidetracks, smoke, dust, cinders and jolts, interspersed only occasionally by beautiful vistas and thrilling burst of speed. The trick is to thank the Lord for letting you have the ride.” ― Gordon B. Hinckley
oh..its just beautiful,,,the card and the pics!
