It is time for the 2 Sketches 4 You!! I always love the sketches that Laura and Kazan come up with and this week is not exception. I flipped Kazan’s fabulous sketch on its side to create this card. As an additional challenge, the DT was asked to use the images from our amazing sponsor, Living Rooms Direct, as inspiration for our card. I love, love, LOVED the black and white images in the notNeutral line and kept coming back to them again and again….sooooooooo…I decided that just had to be my inspiration for my card. I hope you have as much fun playing along this week as I did!
I am making a plea to all you fabulous card makers out there. I recently ran across an opportunity to help a family who is going through a really rough time right now. "How can I help?", you ask. The answer is so easy...just by doing what you are already doing...making cards. How wonderful that we have this chance to bring a little love to this family as they are going through this hard time.
This is the post by Kristina Proffitt on 2 Peas that brought this to my attention:
Hi Peas! Some of you might have heard about a card drive that myself, Jennifer McGuire and Jana Millen have organized for a sweet girl named Kate who is battling brain cancer. I wanted to post about it though just in case you haven't heard about it. We are asking people to participate in creating cards for Kate and her family and sending them to Jennifer. If you do participate your name will be entered to win one of the wonderful prizes we have! You can find out more information about the card drive and about sweet Kate and her family on my blog (see link below), Jennifer's blog HERE or Jana's blog HERE. We are updating the prize page a lot so always check back to see what has been added. If you make something, work for a company or have something that you'd like to donate - please pea mail me and let me know! We would love to add more and more donations to our list. If you aren't able to participate this time, we hope that you will put Kate and her family in your prayers.
Thank you so much for reading and if you have any questions just let me know! I hope you'll take a bit of time out of your day to brighten up the day of Kate and her family.
One more thing - if you post about the card drive on your blog, pea mail me or leave a comment on my blog. I am putting the names of everyone who is helping to spread the word about this card drive into a drawing for a little something from me.
I can tell you who or rather what I love...the amazing product from E.A.D. Designs! Holy Moly they are by far the easiest rub-ons I have EVER worked with. The finish they leave is so striking. You gotta try them! I can't wait to try some home decor items next...so versatile...you can use them for cards, los, home decor...just straight on your walls. Fabulous!! I'm also lovin' Laura's sketch. When I flipped it I saw the tree and then this card was born. Hope you play along! Have a fab week all!!
Time again for another great sketch from 2 Sketches 4 You!!! I know you are going to LOVE this sketch from Kazan. I sure did! The sponsor this week is Clear and Simple Stamps...you are going to want to check them out...cute stuff. I went with a "news" theme this week, since we have so much news to share in our family right now. Amanda is getting ready to go off to Paraguay...FBI clearance done...shots done...temple ordinances received...passport ready...wardrobe getting there; Ty is off to college now...I wasn't sure I was going to get through that...tears were shed (or should I say sobs...on my part, not his), but he is settled and happy and meeting friends. I knew he would do well...it's just hard to let go when you know it will never quite be the same again. Alena has started ninth grade...supplies bought...classes changed...friends established...Amanda's former wardrobe adopted. She looked so good on the first day of school it should have been illegal...I wasn't sure I was going to let her go...lol. As for me...I managed to delete my cards file in my photo editing software...ugh! I'm a firm believer in everything working out for the best, though...so I think I'll get even better pictures of them than originally...it will take me some extra time, but it's all good! Thanks so much for all your well wishes and kind words and sharing our family news. Big Hugs...Cheryl
It is back to school time at my house. My daughter starts school on Thursday this week and we will take my son to college on Friday. I'm so excited for my son, but I always have a hard time with the letting go thing. This is my fourth child to leave home now and it gets a little harder each time. I've made this card for him. There are so many things I want to tell him as he is going off on his own. I loved making this card for him. The cheeriness of the fun files at Cutting Cafe lifted my spirits a little. Could the wonderful files from the Cutting Cafe be any more fabulous? Cutting Cafe is the sponsor of 2 Sketches 4 You this week. I soooooooo loved working with their fabulous printer stamps. Such a great concept. Come play along with us at 2S4Y and perhaps you'll win some of these terrific files. You are going to love using Laura's sketch! I also want to give a shout out to the newest DT member at 2S4Y.....Sankari!!!!!!! I ADORE her work and am so happy she is a part of the DT!! So everyone please give her a big WELCOME!!!
I can't even begin to say how excited and honored I am to be the newest member of the 2 Sketches 4 You Design Team!!! Laura and Kazan are just THE BEST! I loooooooooove their sketches each and every week...they never cease to inspire me. The other members of the Design Team are soooooooo AMAZING!! Who wouldn't be excited to be a part of it?! As I said last week I really am trying to get the Christmas details done early this year so I can sit back and enjoy the wonder of the season with my family. Keeping that in mind, I decided to make invitations to a Christmas cookie exchange that I want to host this year. The sponsor this week for 2S4Y is May Arts...their ribbon is just SCRUMPTIOUS and I loved using it for this invitation. The winner of this week's challenge will receive not 1 or even 2 spools of this lovely ribbon but SIX!!! So go on over and enter. I will post some more cards later this week with this fabulous ribbon.
“Anyone who imagines that bliss is normal is going to waste a lot of time running around shouting that he’s been robbed. The fact is that most putts don’t drop, most beef is tough, most children grow up to just be people, most successful marriages require a high degree of mutual toleration, most jobs are more often dull than otherwise. Life is like an old time rail journey…delays…sidetracks, smoke, dust, cinders and jolts, interspersed only occasionally by beautiful vistas and thrilling burst of speed. The trick is to thank the Lord for letting you have the ride.” ― Gordon B. Hinckley
